Hi All,
I've experimented with your platform for about a year now, and i still think it is one of the most feature-full and easy to get into CMS systems (altho' the version control took some getting used to!). Unfortunately, i've had to recommend and use far inferior alternatives to Sitesupra due to a number of fairly pointless end user requests, pointless but for one recurring question that is becoming more and more prevalent, in my opinion.
A lot of my customers use non IE environments, mainly Apple Macs and a mix of Linux / Solaris Desktops (i know it IS unusual). I know that this is nowhere near the installed base of IE users, but another unusual phenomenon that i'm coming across when pitching for new business is a request for the software to be non IE specific... in all 3 recent cases Firefox was specifically asked for.
Is there any idea as to when you'll have a firefox port?
What are the major issues in moving it over? Is it the drag'n'drop features? wysiwyg editor, etc.
Is there any way that we as members of your community can maybe help in your migration of some of the features?
Thank you and keep up the good work,
Regards,
Shrike71

Hi Shrike71,
Thank you for the props, much appreciated.
There is a number of obstacles on a way to cross-browser platform with the main being modal dialogs (all SiteSupra dialog windows), and, as you rightly noticed, the Edit Site environment. Both require heavy SiteSupra system rework and we aren't sure about commercial outcome. We realize that in a long perspective it makes sense and we are keeping track of this idea, but it's not something one our nearest agenda. The IE remains to be the most popular browser and it will perhaps continue to be so for a few years from now, so we try to capitalize on this. We rather add new features to SiteSupra and improve existing ones. Thank you for the feedback, it's really important for us to know your opinion.
Kind regards,

I have also experienced some growing unliking for the IE requirement from the client side. While still being the most widely used browser, it requires Windows based system, which looks bad among the other SS requirements which are completely opensource based.
As to the additional functionality - I would prefer the level that was provided by SS 2nd version but based on opensource browser (like FireFox) instead of 3rd version functions in IE.
Additionally I have had lots of problems with using the SS 3rd version as the updates did not keep up with IE updates which sometimes forced me to find a PC which was not updated just to be able to finish the job that was promised to the client.

Thanls for the comment Raitis.
As I've been saying, we are investigaiting the cross-browser platform and will certainly progress gradually in this direction. We also coniser making templates engine more user friendly, i.e. visual.

I am a first time user of SiteSupra. I have read your forums regarding support for other browsers. Here I am writing this post 1-1/2 years later on this thread and the trend is in; IE is loosing dominance. I do not use IE and everyone I associate with avoids it like the plague. I like your tool. It is very nice. I need a flavor of the server that supports Firefox minimum. Has there been a change on this front since the last post in 2005? If not, then I will be forced to consider other alternatives.

Hi,
We are working on the next generation SiteSupra at the very moment. It will be more powerful and more flexible than SiteSupra 3, and it will be fully cross-browser. The release date isn't known yet, but first we will release a light version of the new product, and we are about 3-5 months from it now. Thank you for your support. -- Anton Sulsky
