It would be great to have possibility to use $suTMPL in layout files...
Example:
| CODE |
$suTMPL->setif('ifclause', 1);
$suTMPL->set('variable', $value);
$suTMPL->exec('template.tmpl');

Currently you can't use supra templates (suTemplateClass) in external page layout because templates are written to be working only during block execution. We will discuss this in future. If you can argument the need in usage of supra templates in external page layout we will discuss this faster. Why do you need to use templates in external page layout?

And BTW, Thanks for your advice, I don't understand them and I'll try to make some bad solution...
I think that your manual about templates is really poor and it doesn't explain a lot of template features... --
